Most of the tribesmen are not "pure" El Molo since they have been combined with Samburu and Turkana bloodlines. Intermarriage with other tribes and abandonment of the nomadic lifestyle has helped to raise their numbers. So they certainly have taken the customs from both tribes. The originality of this ethny is that they mixed their traditions with christendom. For example, a El Molo women will wear a tribal necklace and a cross at the same time. Many El Molo speakers have also adopted cultural customs from these communities. In 1994, there were reportedly only 8 original El Molo remaining.
