We absolutely adored traditional singing in the village we visited. We were met by a large group of beautifully dressed tribesmen. They performed for us, laughing and enjoying themselves. Their initial song was led by a man performing something like a chicken dance which amused local women to no end! Julius explained to us later that the male performer was quite old for such a dance and high on khut. Nobody expected him to perform. I recorded a video with the tribal singing. Jamie loved a girl's solo. I have her pictures, she had a baby on her back And the most incredible and unusual face with Asian touch.
Day 2 of tribal tour brought us to Koros Camp just outside of South Horr. Our manyatta visit became the bar to which all future visits were measured. Unrivaled hospitality, humor, laughter, and such amazing singing which haunts me still.
